Mycopunk Employees & Abilities: All Five Robots Explained
Five robots, five movement kits, zero locked classes. What each Mycopunk employee actually does and which one fits the way you want to move.

No Classes — Just Movement
Mycopunk does not lock you into a class. Your identity comes from which upgrades you socket into your weapon grids; the employee you pick decides your movement kit — and movement matters more in Mycopunk than in most shooters, because repositioning is how you keep the two-weapon ammo loop alive during chaotic fights.
The Five Employees
| Employee | Movement kit | Playstyle |
|---|---|---|
| Wrangler | Rocket whip, mid-air dash | The all-rounder; community pick for late game |
| Bruiser | Shield, ground slam | Frontline durability and space control |
| Scrapper | Jetpack, grapple | Traps, repositioning, creative routes |
| Glider | Wingsuit | Vertical scouting and flanks; community pick for early game |
| Mycologist | Sporelift, Fungal Skewer | Risk-economy specialist added in 1.0 — unlock guide |
Who to Pick First
Steam forum consensus rates the Glider strongest early thanks to flight and healing rockets, and the Wrangler strongest late. All four Early Access employees hold up at high threat levels, so the honest answer is: pick the movement that feels natural, then let your grids define your build.
Abilities Have Their Own Grids
Each employee's abilities are upgraded through their own grid, which grows with player level from 5x5 up to 7x6. Treat ability grids as part of your build, not an afterthought — a mobility upgrade that recharges faster is often worth more than a weapon stat piece. The Mycologist's grid leans hardest into her kit, converting her infection meter into healing and burst.
How many employees are in Mycopunk?
Five as of the 1.0 update: Wrangler, Bruiser, Scrapper, Glider and the Mycologist, who was added on October 20, 2026.
What is the best employee in Mycopunk?
Community consensus favors Glider early (flight plus healing rockets) and Wrangler late. Since Mycopunk has no classes, your upgrade grid defines your actual build.
Can you change employees in Mycopunk?
Employees are your playable character — you can switch between missions and experiment freely. Your weapon builds and grids are what take time to rebuild.
