Mycopunk Best Builds: Weapon Pairings & 1.0 Grid Plans

Builds that survive 1.0: Plate Launcher and Shocklance anchors, the Lead Flinger boss-deleter, and the grenade renames you need to know before you re-socket anything.

Last updated:

1.0 scales most upgrade stats with pattern size and changed several key patterns (Tumbleweed, Big Fat Doobie, Shock Recursion, Double Shot). Old Early Access grid screenshots are starting points, not answers — rebuild and re-infuse.

New to the game and don't recognize these weapon names yet? Start with the Mycopunk beginner guide first — builds make more sense once the ammo loop clicks.

Build Around the Pair, Not the Gun

Because one weapon's damage refills the other's ammo, a Mycopunk build is really a two-weapon system. Start from a role you lack — crowd clear, single-target burst, or pressure while repositioning — then pick the partner weapon.

Anchor Upgrades From the Developer's Own Balance Notes

Pigeons at Play's balance notes have repeatedly highlighted a few combos, and none of these were nerfed in 1.0 (though the Shocklance now favors smaller groups):

WeaponUpgradesRole
ShocklanceMicro DetonatorsBurst damage with movement utility
FR.15833 Plate LauncherClearing PlasmaCrowd control and ammo economy support
Lead FlingerBig Fat Doobie + Lucky BastardBoss-deleting revolver

Support pieces worth building around in 1.0: Charging Port (Plate Launcher, Epic) heals you while you stand on your plates, Subzero Energy (Cycler, Epic) applies cryo at a lower fire rate, and Confident Queen (Accelerator, Rare) trades Pocket Reload for a bigger magazine.

1.0 Turbocharges Worth Chasing

1.0 added eleven new turbocharges. Highlights include a Jackrabbit turbocharge that deals more damage the higher you are above your target, a Tinderbox turbocharge that switches the Gunship Cannon's element to shock or acid, and a turbocharge that makes the Caustic Grenade's Connected Systems trigger an extra time. Note the renames: the Shock Grenade is now the Voltaic Grenade, and the Acid Grenade is now the Caustic Grenade — old grenade upgrades live under their new names.

A Simple First Build

  1. Start with an S-tier anchor: the Plate Launcher or Shocklance.
  2. Pair it with the opposite range: a Cycler or Jackrabbit up close, a DMLR at distance.
  3. Fit the anchor's build-defining upgrade first, then stat pieces.
  4. Rebuild the grid each time a new rotation tier unlocks (levels 3, 8, 16, 30).

What is the best weapon in Mycopunk?

By the developer's own balance notes, the standouts have been the Shocklance with Micro Detonators, the Plate Launcher with Clearing Plasma, and the Lead Flinger with Big Fat Doobie and Lucky Bastard. Our tier list ranks the full arsenal for 1.0.

What is the best class in Mycopunk?

Mycopunk has no classes — just five employees with different movement kits. Steam forum consensus rates Glider strongest early and Wrangler strongest late, but your grid does the real class-defining.

Do old builds still work in Mycopunk 1.0?

Mostly. Core upgrades are intact, but stats scale with pattern size now, and several pieces got new patterns. Rebuild your grids and redo infusions after updating.
