Mycopunk Fix the Truck: Hunk Escort & Wheel Repairs
The truck in question is Hunk, the hauler in Saxonite Transport. Here is what breaks on him, how to repair it, and how to not lose the cargo on the way to the pad.
Last updated:
"Fix the truck" in Mycopunk means keeping Hunk alive during the Saxonite Transport priority assignment. Since the Oxythane Breach update you repair him by hitting his wheels with melee — the old wrench required is gone.
What the Truck Actually Is
Saxonite Transport is a priority assignment where your crew recovers stolen supplies from the thieves CR4T3R and B0X3R, loads the barrels onto a truck, and escorts it to a rocket launch pad to fire the cargo into space. The wiki's mission breakdown splits it into a loading stage — activate the barrel repository, sort barrels, roll them into their respective holes — followed by the escort itself, where you release Hunk with a lever and walk him to his destination.
The truck is not drivable by players. Your job is cargo handling first, escort second, mechanic third.
What Breaks, and How to Fix It
The convoy takes damage on the route, and two failure modes dominate:
| Problem | Fix |
|---|---|
| Hunk's wheels get chewed up by enemies during the escort | Hit the wheels with your melee attack to heal them (added in Oxythane Breach; before that update, players carried a wrench that occupied the heavy slot) |
| A Saxonite barrel gets stuck in the terrain | Regenerate it from the freight bay interface (added in the Freeze & Fester update) |
There is no on-screen HP readout we could verify for the wheels, so treat visible damage and slowdown as your cue to swing. Players report that clearing enemies before they cluster around the truck matters more than repair speed — the wheels can only take so much between swings.
Escort Discipline: A Route Checklist
Escort missions in horde shooters fail on positioning, not repairs. Run this loop:
- Load efficiently first. Sort the barrels and roll them into the correct holes before triggering the escort — a clean loading stage means fewer loose barrels to lose later.
- Clear the path ahead, not the swarm behind. Enemies chasing the truck matter less than the pack it is driving into.
- Assign one wheel-watcher in co-op. One player hanging near Hunk with melee ready outperforms four players sprinting back from far kills.
- Kill the clingers. Enemies that latch onto the cargo do steady damage; peel them before they pile up.
- Hold the launch pad. The final stage has you protect the rocket while the Saxonite transfers — the escort is not over until the launch sequence does.
Solo vs. Squad Escort
The mission scales differently depending on your crew size, and so does the repair job:
- Solo, you are the wheel-watcher by default. Pick a mobile employee kit and stay within melee range of Hunk rather than chasing kills — the truck moves at its own pace, and outrunning it just means sprinting back to a half-broken convoy.
- In co-op, split roles explicitly before the lever flip: two players on path clearing, one on cargo peeling, one glued to Hunk. The sync fix for mid-escort joiners means a fourth player dropping in late is no longer a liability, but they arrive without context — call the role out loud.
Either way, spend your grenade and ability slots on crowd control rather than single-target burst. Escort failures come from volume, not from one tough enemy.
Why This Mission Is Worth the Trouble
Saxonite Transport is one of the reliable ways to keep your upgrade crafting funded — Saxonite crafts undiscovered upgrades, which feeds directly into grid completion. Note the name does not mean better payout: nothing official says this mission pays more Saxonite than other missions at the same threat level, so run it because you enjoy the escort, not for the drop table.
Since Oxythane Breach also fixed an issue where this mission did not sync correctly for players joining during the truck escort, late joiners now see the convoy properly — one less way to lose a squad mid-run.
What is the truck in Mycopunk?
The truck is Hunk, the hauler in the Saxonite Transport priority assignment. You load it with Saxonite barrels, escort it to a rocket pad, and launch the cargo.
How do you repair the truck in Mycopunk?
Hit Hunk's wheels with your melee attack to heal them. The Oxythane Breach update removed the old wrench requirement that occupied your heavy weapon slot.
What happens if a barrel gets stuck in Saxonite Transport?
Since the Freeze & Fester update, you can regenerate a stuck Saxonite barrel from the freight bay interface instead of abandoning the cargo.
Can you drive the truck in Mycopunk?
No. Hunk drives the route himself; the crew's job is loading barrels, escorting, and melee-repairing his wheels along the way.
While you are budgeting escort runs, the leveling guide covers which threat levels pay best, and crossplay co-op helps you assemble the four-player crew that makes the escort trivial.
